Nerding out

smdI’ve always been a gamer. Ever since I was a kid I’ve played video games. My first console was a Sega Megadrive and since then I’ve been a PlayStation girl all the way, from PS1 through to my PS3 which I’ve had for an age and originally bought because I wanted to play Metal Gear Solid 4 when it was first released. When my sister and I were younger we received games consoles for Christmas. I got a PlayStation 1 and my sister got a Nintendo 64. My sister is not one for video games so that N64 basically became mine and I rinsed The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. Two fantastic games. That was a good year.

My PlayStation 3 is slowly dying – for example if I want to watch a DVD it’s a real struggle to get it to play, but I’ll be sucking out every last breath from that console until that day comes.

One of the best games, wait – the best game I have ever played is The Last of Us. I think TLOU is a masterpiece in gaming. Everything about it is superb – the story; the characters; the voice acting; the graphics. It’s a phenomenal video game and if you haven’t played it yet I suggest you do so as soon as possible because it’s quite frankly the best game you may ever play. At least, until the sequel.

I watched the trailer for the sequel a few months ago and have been nerding out ever since. This game will be the reason I buy a PlayStation 4. I played the DLC “Left Behind” about a year ago and man, that pulled at my heart strings. There’s only a couple of games that have ever made me cry. I’ll admit it. I’m a girl for fuck sake. The Last of Us: Left Behind had me crying like a baby. I have a lot of confidence, and maybe too much expectation, that TLOU2 will be every bit as special as TLOU and TLOU: Left Behind. When this game is released, no-one will see me for several days.
